Topic: Windows Command Line Workshop
Presenter: Phil Gilmore
Date: Thursday, August 09, 2018
Time: 6:30:00 PM -
Location:
Exploitation of the system command line was once a staple skill among software developers but has fallen by the wayside amid today's mature graphical operating system and mouse-friendly development environments. It has diminished to a narrow role as a sinister trinket for elite programmers, avoided by those with an understandable discomfort with the command line. With the new Windows Subsystem for Linux and the rise of container-based devops solutions it is becoming more and more important for serious programmers to make the command line a first-class skill in their toolbox. We will do this as a group from the ground up. No soldier will be left behind. We won't learn everything, but you'll learn enough to make the command line a staple in your everyday work and hopefully even put it on your resume. This is a workshop so bring a laptop.
About the presenter:
A little more about Phil:
A tech guy that has some amount of interpersonal skills. He enjoys vintage (old) technology, and has the time to rebuild most of it from scratch; but don't let that put you off. Dispite this and his bizarre usage of Delphi, Phil is a relatively normal guy. He enjoys crafts and scrapbooking, and generally anything that can be bought from The Quilted Bear.
His favorite quote: Sometimes I just want to give it all up and become a handsome billionare.
