Date: Thursday, October 08, 2015

Time: 6:30:00 PM - Starts promptly at 6:30PM

Location: See Meeting Location in the upper right corner

Our third annual Halloween special - Scary Gadgets.  We will use Windows 10 IoT core on a Raspberry Pi and program it to control a Halloween prop.  If you've never seen our Scary Gadgets presentations, you're missing out.  We go all-out for our Halloween meetings and you don't want to miss this one.  Two years ago, we did a huge Raspberry Pi GPIO intro on kinetic control and gave out GPIO starter kits to every attendee.  Last year, we built a responsive talking Batman candy dish with an Arduino.  THIS YEAR WE PLAN TO TOP IT ALL!  Bring your friends, your kids, anyone who's interested in Halloween, IoT, robotics, programming, electronics or embedded systems.

About the presenter:

Phil Gilmore is a frequent technical speaker and presenter for local technical community events.  He has run several user groups in the past and is currently an organizer for the Northern Utah .NET User Group (NUNUG) and helps organize other community events as well. He does a lot of Delphi, C# and Python.  As a Maker at heart, he is a hobbyist on the forefront of physical computing and IoT.

Nate Zaugg has been writing code since he was around 5 and has always loved the creative and science aspects that coding entails. He spends much of his time working to help build the community by increasing the understanding of tech for everyone. He fulfills part of this by helping organize the Northern Utah .Net Users Group (NUNUG) but he also volunteers a lot of time organizing many other events through Utah Geek Events (UGE), a 501(c) nonprofit. It's pretty rare to see Nate away from a computer but he does also enjoy electronics, model R/C, very amateur photography. He founded Mindfire Technology in 2012 and enjoys the fun and challenges of working on a variety of different projects in almost every technology.
